Both lakes are small - Lake Tyler is 2,224 acres and Lake Tyler East is a little larger at 2,276 and a maximum depth of 40 feet. A small channel joins the two lakes allowing you to enjoy both of them. Both lakes have heavily treed gently rolling to flat terrain. The water is cooperish color with a viability of about 5 feet - not bad for a Texas Lake.
Fishing enthusiasts will find the fishing is excellent for large mouth bass and sunfish and good for spotted bass and crappie. Skiers and boarders and tubers should be able to find some smooth water in one of the coves, behind the trees, or down by the dam.
The shoreline on Lake Tyler is fairly well developed with some beautiful homes and unique to both is the ability to build a lake house on the water - and there are some real fancy ones. It's fun just cruising the lake to check them out.
There are several ramps, a couple day use areas, a marina and restaurant on Lake Tyler (Lake Tyler Marina), and some campgrounds, most of which are operated by the City of Tyler Water Utility.
